Abundant Harvest

It's hard to believe that we are at the end of August. School has started back and the end of summer is fast approaching. The garden is showing signs of aging. Several vines have died back leaving the last remnants of their produce. The harvest season has been greatly blessed in abundance this year....(in spite of those pesky rabbits!) 😜 It's true that I don't have the peppers this year that I was hoping for, but overall, I can't complain.

The goal now is to start cleaning out beds and hopefully get as many cool weather things into the ground for the makings of a fall garden. I'll keep you updated on how that goes. Hopefully the rabbits cut back on their appetite and progress will be made. I would really like to have some peas.....(a favorite of rabbits) 😒 Calvin, our cat that passed away a few months ago used to be a great hunter. He was very good at keeping rodents of all kinds out of the garden. (rabbits aren't rodents, but you know what I mean) Even if he didn't kill a critter, he helped them to make their home somewhere else. This coming spring we are considering getting one or two barn cats to help control the rodent population. Hopefully it will work and next year I will have peppers galore. We will see.....😏 Until then, here are a few pictures of some of the things I have collected this week. I'm really proud of those pears! That is only a small portion of what has been collected so far. Yummy!
